25 Years of Flexi

This year we were honoured to celebrate the Toowoomba Flexi School's 25th Anniversary!

For some, it may feel like just yesterday back in 1998 that our co-founder Professor Glen Postle AM opened the doors to the original Flexi School in the Bell Street Mall to accommodate young people for whom traditional schooling could not meet their needs. Over the past 25 years, we have grown together as a close-knit community and continue to realise the potential of every young person and support them to stay on track and be ready for their future.

We want to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to all the leaders, dedicated teachers and staff, Intergenerational Mentors, parents/carers and our incredible young people who have made this journey so remarkable. More importantly, we must mention our community partners, or as we like to call them, our “Friends of Flexi", good people from our community that come together to support our school and advocate for our young people. These includes The Older Men's Network (TOMNet), Rotary Club of Toowoomba East, Lions Inc, UniSQ, Centenary Heights State High School P&C and Lifeline Darling Downs South West.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Toowoomba Flexi School entered a celebratory float in the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Grand Floral Parade. Flexi's entry represented the many “busy bees" that attribute to the success of the Flexi community and its learning model. The concept and creation of our entry and walking group was a visual representation of the Flexi community and a celebration of 25 Years of Flexi, “Creating a Buzz" in the Toowoomba region.  Current and past students, staff, mentors and Friends of Flexi came together to create the float and joined the walking group in the parade.

Enjoy the below photos that highlight our 25-year celebratory float in the 2023 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Grand Floral Parade.
