At Flexi School all staff take the time to get to know students to develop valuable relationships with them. Adult role models in the school show genuine care and concern for students and strive to deliver the learning experiences to suit the needs of the students. The common belief is, students are individuals and can design the learning program that suits them to achieve their chosen pathway.

Understanding teaching staff: Teachers strongly believe "when a teacher learns to care, a students cares to learn". At Flexi teachers do genuinely care about the students. It doesn't matter what history students have, teachers work closely with them to move them closer to achieving their goals. This emphasis on strong teacher-student and student-student relationships is made possible by catering for a small number of students who have consistent access to teachers. Our Case Management System ensures individual feedback on learning and opportunity to discuss other barriers to learning. Students who are contemplating an education at Flexi School need to know that teaching methods are built on respecting individuals needs, setting realistic expectations and providing focused teaching that relates to student interests.
Personal development opportunites: Students are encouraged to discover themselves as individuals through a number of personal development programs including Groovy Girls, Experience Thru Challenge, Rock and Water, Shine, Seasons and Flexi camps. All programs focus on personal growth including personal reflection, relationships, teamwork, responsibility and respect.
How is Flexi different to a mainstream campus?
- Smaller in size to most high schools. This allows a more relaxed, personal approach.
- Timetable is more flexible - subjects are scheduled in 70 minute blocks.
- Students are only required to be at school when a class is scheduled.
- Year 10 are scheduled for classes five days a week.
- Year 11 and 12 are scheduled for classes when required, for each subject they select.
- Delivery is more flexible and suited to student needs, negotiated education plans can be arranged to meet your personal circumstances.
Mentoring
Year 10 students are supported by weekly mentor visits from volunteers from TOMNET (The Older Mens Network). Students are supported with one-on-one tutoring in Literacy and Oracy.
