Toowoomba Flexi School celebrated NAIDOC week with a day of song, dance and great food. Mura Biri Gururu dances (a local Indigenous dance group) started off our day with a smoking ceremony to welcome everyone to the land, cleanse our bodies and ward off any bad spirits. They then proceeded to share some stories, dance and culture with us.
The spectacular food featured Native Australian ingredients and included kangaroo jerky, wattle seed and thyme damper and kangaroo and bush tomato relish. Everyone loved the food, including our special guests.
