CBA staff make generous donation to Flexi School

Chris Martin, TOMNET Mentor, Glen Postle, Co-Founder Toowoomba Flexi School, Vicki Hertzog, Branch Manager Toowoomba Plaza Branch of Commonwealth Bank, and Year 12 student James Cook cut the celebration cake

On June 4, Commonwealth Bank (CBA) Branch Manager, Toowoomba Plaza Vicki Hertzog and Area Manager, Queensland South West Michelle Smith visited our Centenary Heights State High School Toowoomba Flexi School. Their purpose was to present a cheque for $10,000 as part of the CBA Giving Project. Over 13,000 staff members of the CBA, Australia wide, each week have monies donated from their pay to go to organisations that make a difference in the community.

This philanthropy began back in 1917 when CBA staff members put together Care packages for families suffering in World War 1 and the spirit of giving has continued ever since. To be recognised within the Toowoomba community as an organisation that makes such a difference is wonderful. The work of our staff at Flexi in turning the lives of young people around, previously marginalised from the community, is well documented and known within the wider Toowoomba community.

We are so thankful to CBA staff members Australia wide as this money allows us to expand our Year 11 classroom to make it a more comfortable and effective teaching space.
